New Supported Housing Provides Pathway For Formerly Homeless

September 18, 2023

Salvation Army Homes have partnered with Maldon District Council to repurpose Cecil Mary House to provide much-needed supportive move-on accommodation for people transitioning out of homelessness.

Completely refurbished and furnished, Cecil Mary House features fully equipped rooms with three full wet rooms on the ground floor for those with accessibility needs. New residents receive welcome packs with essentials to help them feel at home.

The first residents have begun settling into their new homes. They will receive ongoing support from Saha focused on goal setting, relationship building, reconnecting with loved ones, and developing skills for employment.

“We are thrilled to open the doors of Cecil Mary House and give residents the services and housing stability they need to move forward after homelessness,” said Lynne Shea, Chief Executive of Salvation Army Homes.

Cllr Richard Siddall, Leader of Maldon District Council, said; “This scheme shows great partnership working between Salvation Army Homes and Maldon District Council in providing both affordable accommodation and support to meet the needs of the residents of the District."

Residents can live at Cecil Mary House for up to two years as they prepare to transition into permanent housing and continue progress toward independent living.
