Salvation Army Homes awarded Pioneer status in the LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge
We’re delighted to announce that Salvation Army Homes has been awarded Pioneer status as part of the LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge. This recognition marks an important step in our ongoing work to make sure our homes and services are welcoming, inclusive, and safe for everyone.
The pledge sets out clear commitments for housing organisations to improve the experiences of LGBTQ+ residents. By taking part in the pledge and completing the training, we’ve deepened our understanding of the barriers some LGBTQ+ people face and strengthened the ways we can respond with care, respect, and support.
For us, this is about more than words. Earning Pioneer status shows that inclusivity runs through everything we do at Salvation Army Homes — from the way we train our staff, to how we design services, to the everyday support we provide in our communities.
We’re proud to stand alongside other housing providers across the country who share this commitment, and we’ll continue working to ensure all residents feel they can truly belong in their homes.
"Achieving Pioneer status in the LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge is something we’re incredibly proud of. It reflects our commitment to creating homes and communities where everyone feels safe, supported, and respected for who they are. At the same time, it’s an important recognition of the work we’ve done to embed inclusivity across all our services. At Salvation Army Homes, we believe inclusivity isn’t just a value we talk about — it’s something we live every day." – Lynne Shea, Chief Executive
