We are looking for residents to get involved!

Do you think we could improve the services you receive? Can you give some of your time to help us make things better?

There are several different ways you can get involved and drive decisions in your area and for all residents.  Want to find out more? We’d love to hear from you about some of our current opportunities.

Together for Residents (T4R) scrutiny group members.

Are you curious?  Do you look for ideas and solutions to make things better?  Do you work well in a team?  Would you like to understand more about how we operate?  Accountable to our Board, T4R is a voluntary group which ensures your voices influence the way we work and make services better.  Sound interesting?  We’re looking for T4R group members as well as a new chair.

What’s involved: T4R undertakes two-three scrutiny reviews per year, looking at services we provide, considering what is working well and what isn’t, and providing evidence-based challenge and recommendations to improve.

What you receive: T4R is a voluntary group.  Support and training to develop scrutiny skills is provided and we pay expenses and travel costs to meetings.  You also receive access to documents and staff to support reviews.  This is a great opportunity to meet other residents, share experiences and work together to help us improve services for all residents.

T4R Chairperson

We are looking for someone with the skills to lead and inspire T4R members, show curiosity to understand, and create a safe space for residents to confidently share their views.  The Chair will be a role model for working effectively together to improve services for all residents.

“I am a long standing member of T4R and it is one of the best experiences I have ever had, I would recommend it to anyone.” - Russell

Operation Committee resident member

Do you want to influence strategic decisions and hold us to account for performance? Playing a core role in the way we are governed, Operations Committee reports to the Board on performance and services.  Your insight will directly influence how we improve experiences for residents. We have two resident members of the Committee and one role is currently available.

What’s involved: Attending four committee meetings per year (in person) Reviewing committee papers in advance, sharing your perspective on key decisions affecting residents, working alongside leaders and Board members, including the CEO, Executive Directors and Heads of Service.

What you receive: £2,000 annual payment, training and support, A laptop for reviewing meeting documents, all travel costs covered and a direct voice in shaping services for all residents

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference, gain valuable experience, and be part of high-level discussions that matter.

What you’ll get:

Whichever role you go for, you’ll be asked to demonstrate a commitment to ensuring a wide range of resident voices are heard, respected and reflected in the decisions made.

All roles will receive a range of support from colleagues across the organisation, in particular, from the Housing & Customer Engagement team. We will provide you with a mentor, coach and guide you into the role. Other involved residents are also on hand to help you as well.

Successful candidates will be selected based on:

  • Commitment to our SPIRE values: Servant Leadership; Passion; Inclusion; Respect; Empowerment
  • Ability to commit to at least 75% of annual meetings
  • Ability to represent the interests of the Salvation Army Homes resident community
  • Geographic location (T4R roles only) – to ensure representation from across the country

Interested?

Please contact us with your name, address and the roles you are interested in, Phone us on 0800 970 6363 or Email us at info@saha.org.uk

We will get back to you within 10 days of receiving your expression of interest.
