Last week, Chief Executive Lynne, visited Downing Street to support the National Housing Federation's Save Our Supported Housing campaign. She tells us about the visit:
"I was surprised but delighted to be asked to attend with the NHF to hand in the 160+ signed letters to 10 Downing Street. It is an experience I will never forget. Both personally and professionally.
Salvation Army Homes aims to provide safe homes to the most vulnerable people in 'society'. And 'society' is letting them down. Funding cuts continue for homelessness services, mental health services, domestic abuse services, refugees - the list goes on. Funding is becoming increasingly uncertain across all our services and throughout England.
Save our Supported Housing campaign is essential to highlight the lack of funding from Government and local authorities. We need to raise the profile of supported housing. We need ring fenced funding. That is why I signed the letter and supported the campaign.
The aim was to secure supported housing funding from the Government spending review coming up later this year. Let's see if it is successful. We will continue to work Innovatively with the resources we have and with our parent, The Salvation Army to deliver high quality services."
